Position Description:

The Director- Nursing Education & Magnet at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital reports to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of the hospital and is a member of the Nursing Leadership team. This leader functions in a dual role, managing Nursing Education and leading the journey to Magnet designation for Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital.

The Director, Nursing Education and Magnet provides leadership and direction for professional development and education for all nursing employees and manages a team of nurse educators. Develops strong partnerships with Nurse Leaders to develop and support professional nursing practice, standards, and quality patient care. Position is critical to nursing growth and development and maintaining nursing staff at the cutting edge of practice. Develops, implements, and leads the journey to Magnet including application, document preparation and submission, designation, and re-designation in accordance with the requirements of the American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition Program.ย  ย 

Education and Experience:

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Master's degree in nursing required. DNP or PhD in nursing preferred.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Five (5) years of clinical nurse specialist/nursing management/ education experience required.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prior experience with Magnet designation preferred.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Prior experience as a Magnet Program Director preferred.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience with program development and outcomes measurement.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Knowledge of and strength in quality and project management principles.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Current clinical knowledge in addition to excellent oral, written, interpersonal, analytical and organization skills.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience in professional practice structures and processes: care delivery systems, evidence-based practice, research, quality monitoring and improvement.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  High-level knowledge and experience with executing strategic programs to drive business success.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Licensed as an RN nursing professional in the State of Michigan required.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) approved certification in area of specialty required within 1 year of position hire.
