Job description

Company Overview

Asset Marketing Services, LLC (AMS), the leading direct-to-consumer platform for high-end collectibles, specializing in rare coins and bullion. Our flagship brand at GOVMINT, offers our customers a meticulously curated selection of products-from ancient artifacts to vintage and modern treasures-delivering sought-after pieces directly into the hands of passionate collectors.

Our concierge service provides exclusive access to rare finds, while our strong partnerships with world mints allow us to quickly bring highly desirable coins to market. At AMS, we don't just sell collectibles-we bring the Thrill of the Find to life for all types of collectors. Because coins are a connection to something so much bigger, we thread captivating storytelling about travel, culture, history and humanity into literally everything we do.

We are driven by our core values of integrity, collaboration, and creativity, ensuring that we build trust with collectors, work seamlessly as a team, and continuously innovate in the field of numismatics.

Position Overview

GOVMINT serves collectors who place trust in every transaction. Behind that experience is an Adobe Commerce Cloud Pro (Magento) platform with established integrations across ERP, PIM, payments, and fraud. We seek a Senior Full Stack Engineer to collaboratively advance the platform's technical integrity and strategic development in partnership with our current engineering team.

This is a hands-on, code-forward role (approximately 70-80% development) working across the full Commerce stack: PHP back-end and module architecture, Magento-native front-end, integration design, and cloud operations. You will contribute to architectural decisions, collaborate closely with peers, and partner with Product, DevOps, and QA to deliver reliable, performant commerce experiences.

You are joining an active production platform with established integrations, first and third-party extensions, and ongoing modernization work. The strongest candidates for this role are pragmatic engineers who enjoy improving real systems, not just designing greenfield ones. You will have meaningful ownership and influence over the platform's direction.

This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will work as a peer in the existing engineering team in a collaborative, low-hierarchy environment, with significant technical influence and the depth of work that comes from owning a complex platform end-to-end.

Essential Functions, Duties & Accountabilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Serve as a senior technical voice on the Adobe Commerce Cloud Pro platform, contributing to architectural decisions, integration patterns, and long-term platform strategy alongside engineering leadership and your peers.
  • Partner with Product and Business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable technical designs.
  • Help design and evolve Commerce-centric integration patterns with ERP, PIM, DAM, CRM, payment providers, fraud/risk platforms, and third-party services, in alignment with broader solution architecture direction.
  • Provide architectural input on custom modules, third-party extensions, and vendor-delivered solutions, including upgrade compatibility and integration risk assessment.
  • Drive performance, reliability, and observability improvements across storefront, APIs, and background processes.

Hands-On Development & Delivery

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality, production-ready PHP code within Adobe Commerce and supporting services.
  • Contribute to front-end development decisions including Magento-native theme architecture, custom theme maintenance, PHTML/Layout XML, LESS/CSS, and Magento's JavaScript stack (RequireJS, KnockoutJS).
  • Apply performance best practices and accessibility standards (WCAG) across both back-end and front-end layers.
  • Evaluate, debug, and maintain third-party extensions; assess vendor solutions for integration risk, upgrade compatibility, and long-term maintainability.
  • Lead by example in code reviews, refactoring efforts, and technical debt reduction.
  • Support release planning and execution on Adobe Commerce Cloud Pro, including deployment readiness, ECE-Tools configuration, rollback strategies, and post-release verification.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues spanning application code, integrations, data, infrastructure, and Fastly CDN.

Engineering Standards & Quality

  • Champion and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, security, and documentation; contribute to the ongoing evolution of those standards in partnership with engineering leadership.
  • Ensure hands-on alignment with PCI compliance, security best practices, accessibility (WCAG), SEO, and privacy requirements within the Commerce platform.
  • Partner with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, multi-environment configuration management, and cloud infrastructure operations specific to Commerce Cloud Pro.
  • Contribute to test strategy improvements (unit, integration, regression) in collaboration with QA; model testing best practices within the commerce engineering team.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Share knowledge and contribute to peer growth through code reviews, design discussions, and pair programming.
  • Provide clear technical input during design discussions and backlog refinement.
  • Work effectively with external vendors and contractors while maintaining AMS engineering standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, low-friction engineering culture focused on reliability and continuous improvement.

Platform Evolution & Innovation

  • Evaluate new Adobe Commerce features, platform upgrades, and ecosystem tools with a practical, value-driven lens.
  • Champion incremental modernization efforts including performance optimization, architecture improvements, front-end evolution, and maintainability.
  • Help shape front-end technology direction, including evaluating future storefront evolution paths (Hyva, headless, or other approaches) as business needs grow.
  • Support internal enablement through clear documentation and targeted knowledge sharing.
Additional Functions, Duties & Accountabilities
  • Participate as a core member of the Technology team, support a hybrid work environment, handle sensitive data responsibly in line with AMS confidentiality and compliance standards, and promote AMS values of Integrity, Collaboration, and Creativity.
RequirementsEducational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience and Skills
  • 8-10+ years of professional experience building and maintaining complex web applications, with deep, hands-on experience on Adobe Commerce / Magento in production.
  • Strong PHP expertise (modern OOP, dependency injection, service-oriented design) paired with proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS for performant, accessible (WCAG) interfaces.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Commerce Cloud Pro, including ECE-Tools, Fastly CDN, magento-cloud CLI, multi-environment configuration, and cloud-specific deployment pipelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of Magento-native front-end architecture (PHTML/Layout XML, LESS/CSS, RequireJS, KnockoutJS), with comfort owning and evolving an established custom theme.
  • Proven experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs and integrating Adobe Commerce with ERP, PIM, payment gateways, fraud/risk platforms, and third-party services in PCI-compliant environments.
  • Experience evaluating, debugging, and maintaining third-party Magento extensions across platform upgrades, including risk assessment and long-term maintainability.
  • Solid understanding of MySQL/Percona, Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and CDN-based architectures, plus practical CI/CD experience.
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit and integration) within PHP and JavaScript environments using PHPUnit, Jest, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar, applied effectively and responsibly within a complex codebase.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with a modern front-end framework (React, Vue, or Angular), particularly in the context of evaluating future storefront evolution paths (Hyva, headless, or composable commerce).
  • Experience contributing to or establishing end-to-end QA automation pipelines (Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
  • Adobe Commerce certification or contributions to the Magento community.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical details for non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable operating in a mixed environment of legacy systems and modern services; able to navigate real-world production complexity, not just greenfield projects.
  • Proactive problem solver with a bias toward ownership and outcomes.
