Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Machinist/Engineer/Tool and Die Maker role based in Gering, NE. The role involves setting up and operating manual and CNC machines, fabricating and maintaining tools, dies, and fixtures, and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to produce precision components. Day-to-day responsibilities include measuring and inspecting parts for accuracy, troubleshooting machining issues, performing routine machine maintenance, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to improve processes and part designs. The individual in this role will also help optimize workflows, maintain a clean and safe work area, and document work performed according to company standards and quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications, with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machining equipment (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders) and using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Skill in tool and die making, including fabrication, adjustment, and repair of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and dies for production use.
  • Understanding of machining practices, material properties (metals and alloys), and basic manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Commitment to safety, quality control, and proper documentation of work, including following standard operating procedures and inspection protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a production environment.
  • Solid basic math skills and comfort with shop calculations, tolerances, and measurements relevant to precision manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment; technical or vocational training in machining, tool and die, or mechanical engineering is preferred.
