Position: CNC Machining Supervisor
Location: Avon Lake, OH

From your basic hose fittings to intricate manifold systems, all crafted right in Westlake, Ohio. What You'll Do:
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Utilizes all available resources to meet delivery dates and quality standards.
  • Oversees, manages, and schedules personnel and activities of respective areas of responsibility.
  • Implements and monitors productivity improvements such as cycle time improvements and cost cutting measures.
  • Ensures all safety procedures and rules are followed and all safety issues are resolved.
  • Works extra hours as required in completing tasks and meeting requirements and delivery dates, including Saturdays. Must be available to open or close shop when needed.
  • Initiates and follows through on action items to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing issues, writes, edits programs.
  • Be able to establish costs & processes for new parts.
  • Coordinates manpower requirements to meet changing conditions (overtime)
  • Oversees the proper procedures of shop orders, in-house inspections, operator inspections, nonconformance issues, and disposition of material and scrap are followed.
  • Verifies that all methods of operation and ISO procedures are updated and followed and effective training programs are maintained
  • Ensures that preventative maintenance is performed and documented according to released methods 100% of the time.
  • Recruits, trains, and coaches employees
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing operations, to include but not limited to fixturing, tooling and methods.
  • Develops new processes and implements new equipment. Performs new equipment qualification and validation.
  • Identifies deficiencies & implements Lean Sigma principles in all aspects of the manufacturing environment.
  • Conducts effective "pre-reviews" of jobs released to the floor and effective "post-reviews" of jobs after completion.
  • Manages processes to assure continuous improvements takes place for cost reductions and
  • quality improvements as jobs are run through the plant.
  • Identify and solve related manufacturing problems. Responds in a timely manner to
  • manufacturing problems and operates with a sense of urgency when required.
  • Develop, setup, and implementation of new machine documentation to achieve the organizational performance, production and financial objectives.
  • Aids or leads in the development of Capital Equipment Justification proposals and implementations of new equipment for manufacturing facility, as required.
  • Collaborates with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly and design staff concerning product
  • design quality planning, and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods
  • Collaborates with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with manufacturing personnel and other staff members in order to support a positive workplace environment.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Develops, evaluates, improves set up methods and reduces set up times.
  • Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing costs. Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing waste

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5 years of manufacturing Supervisory experience in operations or related areas of machining
  • At least 3 years experience with implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technical school background is helpful
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machining
  • Ability to drive positive changes in all aspects of departments' operations by using continuous improvement tools and methodologies, teamwork and shop floor metrics, to include quality, cost, delivery, safety and housekeeping.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership by leading by example
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Specific safety training specified in New Employee Orientation
  • Specific procedural training identified in the Job Function Element Master List
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings and dimensions, and help with the development of Inspection Planning Sheets (IPS)
  • Proper understanding and application of ISO, and medical procedures as they relate to day to day operations and assigned projects
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred
  • Possess a working knowledge of machining, materials, quality programs, safety programs and managing resources.
  • Understands production planning concepts.
  • Knowledge of writing & editing programs for all types of CNC machines
  • Knowledge of using different computers programs to create reports using Excel, Word, Power points etc.
  • Knowledge of creating manufacturing prints
