Job description

Job Status:
Open - open and accepting applications
Duties and Responsibilities: This position assesses properties; collects data about property and structures which determines the value; utilizes data to assist in determining value; determines functional and physical depreciation of structures and determines the grade condition, desirability, and utility; reviews sales analysis on vacant and improved properties to determine market value. This position also performs intermediate technical appraising work in the Real Property Division of the County Assessor's Office; performs related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. Reports to the Real Property Supervisor.
Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, ordinances, and laws used in the appraisal of real property; thorough knowledge of current construction costs, including building materials and supplies; general knowledge of County geography; ability to read and interpret land maps; ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle; ability to operate common office machines and computer required by the position; ability to operate photographic equipment for inclusion in digital system; ability to attend work regularly; excellent interpersonal skills.
Special Requirements: Must obtain Certification as a County Real Property Appraiser by the Property Tax Division of the North Carolina Department of Revenue within one year of employment
Pre-employment drug test, SBI Fingerprinting and background checks required of finalist applicants.
