Job description

Summary:

We are looking for a Laser Machine Operator to join our innovative, fast-growing company. We are looking for operators to work on AMADA, TANAKA, KOIKE, or other top machines. While we are willing to train the candidates on new machines, they must be familiar with the laser cutting process or have prior experience in working with one of these machines.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production

• Set up, program, and operate laser cutting machines to cut and form metal parts to specification.

• Load and unload sheet metal materials using appropriate lifting and handling techniques.

• Monitor machine performance during production runs, adjusting settings as necessary to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

• Verify correct materials, thicknesses, and job specifications prior to cutting operations.

• Maintain optimal nesting of parts to minimize material waste.

Quality Assurance

• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges to ensure compliance with blueprints and specifications.

• Identify and correct defects, burrs, or imperfections before parts move to the next stage.

• Document production data accurately for traceability and continuous improvement.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine machine checks and basic preventive maintenance such as cleaning lenses, checking coolant levels, and inspecting consumables.

• Troubleshoot minor operational issues and escalate complex problems to maintenance or supervision.

• Report equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety protocols and always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Maintain a clean, organized work area to prevent hazards and ensure efficient workflow.

• Adhere to company policies and comply with ISO, OSHA, and ITAR requirements.

Teamwork & Communication

• Collaborate with production team members to meet schedules and customer deadlines.

• Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding production challenges, material shortages, or quality concerns.

• Provide feedback for process improvements and efficiency gains.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating laser cutting equipment or similar CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.

• Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges.

• Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes and material types.

• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Preferred:

• Experience with Amada, Trumpf, or similar CNC laser machines.

• Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems for job tracking.

• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for most of the shift.

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds regularly and safely.

• Tolerance for noise, heat, and physical activity typical of a production environment.
