Description
HOLT CAT in Kilgore, Texas is looking  for a experienced Machinist for our heavy construction equipment shop.  The Machinist performs all standard machining repairs on heavy equipment or components in a shop environment. Demonstrates a willingness to help in other areas when needed.  Must be able to lay out tasks, reads and interprets blueprints and technical publications, designs and draws working sketches. Must be able to perform Metal Spray procedures using wire processes-Required. Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7am to 4pm.  We are located at 3007 Maverick Drive, Kilgore, Texas 75662.

Key Responsibilities
• Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
• Demonstrates well developed technical skills and performs most standard machine jobs and repairs
• Performs all types of machining operations to manufacture, modify, and repair machine parts, equipment, and components
• Lays out tasks, reads and interprets blueprints and technical publications, designs and draws working sketches
• Works as a member of a team to provide basic mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals
• Performs routine operational checks on repair work and functional parts of mechanical equipment and machinery
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
• Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order
• Act as a team leader on large projects
• Provides significant task and behavior-oriented supervision to other Machinists
• Provides assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other Machinists
• Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork
• Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications
• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Actively participates in observations and safety meetings and encourages others to do the same
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Extensive knowledge on performing Metal Spray (thermal spray/metallizing) procedures using the wire process in order to rebuild worn surfaces
• Extensive knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
• Extensive knowledge of current computer software, SIS, and ability to teach others
• Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work

• Ability to run and maintain all machining equipment including CNC machines in the shop

• Must own a large assortment of tools and specialized tools to perform repairs and jobs
• Has met HDSI requirements for preceding Machinist levels; Ability to model and teach Holt’s VBL Culture

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program is preferred
• Five or more years required
• Experience leading/mentoring preferred

Physical Requirements:
• Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching
• Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity
• Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
• Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
Work Environment:
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
• Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting
• Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration
• Works in confined workspaces, awkward potions, and high places
• Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings
