Description

A to Z Quality Fencing is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic shop assistant to join our growing team. In this entry level position, you will assist shop supervisors and project managers with a variety of tasks, while learning the basics of manufacturing including how to operate machinery. If you are willing to learn new skills, enjoy working with your hands, and get excited when hardware and tools go on sale, you could be an ideal fit for this shop assistant position. Location Hartford WI

Primary Responsibilities

  • Good organization skills, keeping detailed records of what is done in and around the shop
  • Maintaining and retrieving inventory, lifting and moving inventory
  • Sorts and places materials on racks, shelves, or in bins
  • Utilizes material handling equipment such as forklifts, band saw, cut off saw, belt sander, drill press, disc grinder, punch press, CNC, and skid loader if/when needed
  • Weekly preventative maintenance, vehicle inspections, clean and maintain equipment
  • Cutting material down to proper length per job load guide(s)

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s License/good driving record
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic Mechanical background
  • Welding and CNC experience-preferred but not necessary
  • Familiarity with hand tools
  • Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of materials experience/shop, willing to train the right individual
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 70 pounds
  • Performs work involving kneeling, crouching, crawling or other uncomfortable positions
