Job description

Advanced Personnel Resources is currently seeking an experienced Manual Machinist for our client in the Greensboro area. Candidates should have experience setting up and operating a variety of manual machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and related equipment. Experience with CNC machinery is a plus, but the primary focus of this position is precision manual machining. This is a 2nd shift opportunity that works 3pm-1:30am, Monday-Thursday.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Machine precision components according to blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting methods for assigned work.
  • Perform turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and other manual machining operations.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Inspect finished and in-process components to ensure required dimensions and tolerances are met.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Prepare basic shop drawings or sketches as required.
  • Make adjustments to machining processes to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and documentation related to assigned work.
  • Keep machines, tools, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform work within established time requirements.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality specifications.
  • Safely operate ground support equipment, when applicable and properly qualified.
  • Work effectively with management, other departments, and fellow employees.


Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Manual Machinist or in a precision machine shop environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience setting up and operating manual lathes and milling machines.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with grinders, drill presses, and other conventional machine shop equipment preferred.
  • CNC machining experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Haas, Okuma, Bridgeport, or similar equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Proven history of excellent attendance.
