JOB DESCRIPTION

Production Team Lead

A production machine shop team lead supervises and coordinates shop personnel, manages day-to-day machining operations, and ensures production schedules and quality standards are met. This role is responsible for training and mentoring team members, resolving production issues, enforcing safety and process protocols, and collaborating with other departments to drive process improvements and operational efficiency.

Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Position Type: Full-time

Hours: 40-45 hours

Schedule: M-F

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead personnel, assigning and prioritizing work orders based on production schedules and deadlines.
  • Monitor daily production operations, ensuring quality of machined parts, efficient workflow, and adherence to established standards.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members on machining processes, safety protocols, and equipment use.
  • Oversee machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Manage resource allocation, including labor, materials, and tooling, to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory compliance standards within the shop.
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, maintenance, and quality teams to solve production problems and drive process improvements.
  • Maintain production records, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reports related to output, quality, and employee performance.
  • Participate in hiring, scheduling, and performance appraisals of team members as needed.
