Job description

Introduction:
Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this direct full-time Group Leader Machine Shop position. This role is going to be onsite in Middletown, CT.

Group Leader Machine Shop Responsibilities:

In addition to performing general machinist duties, you will:
  • Oversee production and employees in assigned area of the Machine Shop
  • Ensure that production schedules are met and that all machines are running at maximum efficiency
  • Monitor a team of machine operators and provide training and guidance as needed
  • Ensure that all safety procedures are followed and that all machines are properly maintained and repaired as needed
  • Monitor inventory levels of materials and tools used in the machine shop and order supplies as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process and implement corrective action as needed
  • Maintain records of production and quality metrics and report regularly to management
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with management to implement changes
  • Perform first piece inspection

Group Leader Machine Shop Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in machine operation and maintenance, with experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate with team members and management
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to machine operation
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proficient in the use of tools and equipment commonly used in machine shops
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules
