Assistant Manager
  • Reports To: Store Manager
  • Supervises: Lube Technician
  • Nature of Work: Responsible for assisting the Manager in providing (or in the Manager's absence, providing) efficient and quality service to customers. Can be given primary responsibility for specific functions within the store as directed by the store manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Open and Close the Station on time.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure that vehicles are serviced within specified time limits.
  • Provide daily supervision and training to Lube Technicians, including coaching, counseling, corrective action and performance evaluation; monitoring staffing levels and adjusting accordingly.
  • Meets sales goals.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly paperwork.
  • Provide service to customer vehicles, including checking and changing fluids and filters, airing tires; provide specialized service including but not limited to transmission, differential and radiator services; input customer and maintenance information into computers; explain service to customers and accept payment for services.
  • Maintain proper cash controls (i.e. follow check acceptance policy, correct preparation and making of deposits, cash drawer maintenance, etc.).
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service; answer questions; resolve customer problems and complaints.
  • Observe and comply with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

To successfully perform the essential functions of the position, the employee must be able to read and write English. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Good technical knowledge and math skills are required. Equipment operation includes overhead and floor mounted oil and grease guns, differential pump, transmission fluid exchange machine, hand tools, computer, cash register, telephone, credit card machine and calculator. The employee must be able to reach overhead to a height of four feet. Additionally, they should be comfortable with constant bending, stretching, and stair use. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers and respond to communication calls from co-workers. Mobility is required.

Scope of Position:

This position reports directly to the Manager and has supervisory responsibilities for store personnel.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a garage environment 100% of the time. Exposure to heavy equipment, slick surfaces and hot-cold temperatures.
