Job description

Job Overview

We are hiring an Industrial Mixing Operator for a full-time, contract-to-hire opportunity in Manteno, IL. This position is responsible for preparing production batches by accurately weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to approved recipes, formulas, and production schedules.

You will operate industrial mixing equipment, complete required quality checks and batch documentation, and work with the production team to maintain consistent product quality and production flow. Opportunities are available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Review recipe and formula sheets and gather ingredients for assigned batches.
  • Accurately weigh and measure dry and liquid ingredients using scales and metering equipment.
  • Verify ingredient lot codes, expiration dates, and quantities before use.
  • Stage and load ingredients in the correct sequence.
  • Safely operate industrial mixers, water meters, mixing controls, and related equipment.
  • Monitor batches for consistency, hydration, temperature, and proper development.
  • Assist with adjustments to mixing speeds, times, or ingredient additions as directed.
  • Discharge completed batches into designated troughs or hoppers.
  • Perform required quality checks and report inconsistencies or equipment concerns.
  • Complete batch sheets, mixer logs, lot-tracking forms, and other production documentation accurately.
  • Record ingredient weights, temperatures, production times, deviations, and corrections.
  • Enter production information into tablets or digital systems as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with equipment cleaning and changeovers.
  • Follow GMP, allergen-control, food-safety, sanitation, PPE, and workplace-safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to accurately follow recipes, formulas, and written production instructions.
  • Basic math skills for weighing ingredients, unit conversions, and portioning.
  • Strong attention to detail with ingredient measurements, lot tracking, and production documentation.
  • Ability to safely operate and work around industrial production equipment.
  • Ability to handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with variable temperatures and machinery noise.
  • Ability to follow GMP, food-safety, sanitation, PPE, and workplace-safety procedures.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
  • Ability to work the assigned shift and up to six days per week when required by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hands-on experience operating industrial mixers and/or kettles.
  • Previous food manufacturing, batching, blending, or ingredient-processing experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay: $18.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on verified experience and skill level.
  • Schedule: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift opportunities available.
