Job description

Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on safely and efficiently handling materials within a high-volume food manufacturing facility in Anderson, IN. The Forklift Operator will support production and distribution operations by palletizing orders, moving materials between machine lines and staging areas, and preparing pallets for shipment using a sit-down forklift and related equipment. The position starts on a Monday–Friday morning training schedule and then transitions to a 12-hour 2-2-3 shift pattern.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move material from machine lines to designated staging areas for the distribution center.
  • Palletize orders accurately and efficiently to meet distribution center requirements and shipping schedules.
  • Move and stage both empty and full pallets of material to support continuous production flow.
  • Wrap the tops of pallets and prepare them for transfer to the wrapping machine.
  • Use RF scanners and scan guns to track inventory, confirm order accuracy, and complete order picking tasks.
  • Perform loading and unloading activities for incoming and outgoing materials as needed.
  • Support receiving operations by handling, organizing, and staging materials in appropriate locations.
  • Operate pallet jacks, including electric pallet jacks, to move materials safely within the facility.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and PPE requirements, including proper attire and hygiene standards in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly reporting any safety concerns or equipment issues.
  • Work independently and remain self-motivated to stay on task and meet productivity and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and meet production and distribution goals.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
  • Ability to comply with all PPE requirements in a GMP-regulated food manufacturing facility, including wearing required protective gear and following hygiene rules.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, remain self-motivated, and stay on task without constant supervision.
  • Basic understanding of material handling and staging processes within a warehouse or factory setting.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
