Job Title: Machine Operator – 2nd Shift

Job Description

This role operates production machinery in a small manufacturing facility that produces bubble wrap and reflective wrap used in construction and packaging applications. You will load bulk materials, monitor and adjust machine settings, and use measuring instruments to ensure products meet precise specifications. This position works on 2nd shift and requires comfort working in a hot environment and handling physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manually load bulk material into production machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
• Monitor machines during operation and make adjustments to speed and temperature settings to maintain product quality.
• Use thickness gauges and other quality instruments to verify that products meet client specifications.
• Follow work instructions and production guidelines to ensure consistent and accurate output.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including equipment and surrounding production space.
• Support packaging of finished products as needed to meet production goals.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints or diagrams related to machine setup or product requirements.
• Use hand tools and related equipment to assist with machine operation and minor adjustments.
• Perform general labor tasks associated with machine operation and production as assigned.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
• Work safely in a hot manufacturing environment and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Be available for overtime, including occasional Saturday work, based on production demands.

Essential Skills

• Experience in general production or manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience as a machine operator or in machine operation roles.
• Ability to use quality instruments such as thickness gauges to verify product specifications.
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions accurately.
• Capability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfort working in a hot manufacturing environment for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks, including standing, bending, and moving throughout the shift.
• Basic familiarity with packaging processes in a production setting.
• Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with gauges and other measurement tools in a production environment.
• Exposure to reading and understanding blueprints or simple technical drawings.
• Experience in operating or supporting production lines that involve heat-based processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Reliability and willingness to work overtime, including some Saturdays, as production requires.

Work Environment

This position is on 2nd shift, working Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with overtime and occasional Saturday work as production demands. The facility is a small manufacturing plant that produces bubble wrap and reflective wrap commonly used at construction sites and in packaging. The process involves heat to adhere layers of wrap together, resulting in a consistently hot work environment. Team members work around production machinery, use gauges and hand tools, and move materials regularly throughout the shift. The role requires appropriate work attire suitable for a hot, industrial setting and adherence to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Markleville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.47 - $22.47/hr.
