Shift 7

Responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and adjustment of complex vision inspection equipment to ensure the production of quality vitamin tablets.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and adjusts the vision inspection machine and other equipment as required.

  • Supplies tablets/capsules to the inspection belt equipment by bending and scooping from a container, lifting and dumping into a hopper above head level, or using a lift-truck/hoist system, ensuring a constant supply of product to the belt.

  • Visually inspects tablets/capsules and removes any defective product through the use of automated equipment or visual inspection techniques.

  • Applies Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to charge and yield products.

  • Weighs the inspected product to ensure the correct weight is in the container.

  • Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles precision tooling, small parts, and equipment on the inspection machines.

  • Performs setup of machines by following a computerized recipe, installing the correct parts, and making the proper settings to cameras, lighting units, and other adjustments.

  • Performs setup of other ancillary equipment, including de-dusting machines and vibratory feeders.

  • Uses a computerized interface to select recipes, operate, and adjust machines.

  • Checks and maintains hardness checks on soft gel capsules.

  • Lifts/carries containers, parts, or capsules weighing up to 30 pounds regularly and pushes and pulls material on wheels or with pallet jacks up to 400 pounds.

  • Monitors the operation and makes fine adjustments to the machine to ensure optimum throughput and ensure the right balance of acceptable product.

  • Maintains routine documentation such as batch reports, downtime reports, etc.

  • Operates scales and barcode equipment to label completed tablet bulk bags.

  • Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures, and good manufacturing practices.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED or 5 years of equivalent work history.

Experience:

  • Requires 3 months of manufacturing experience. Prior experience as a production machine operator, utility worker, or similar work is preferred. A working knowledge of inspection operations, typically resulting from experience using manual inspection equipment, is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Manual dexterity to manipulate controls on inspection and testing equipment.

  • Ability to read and communicate in English sufficiently well to understand operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, and batch records; communicate with supervisors and others; and maintain routine records.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant bending and scooping of large quantities of tablets from the container and dumping them into the hopper above head level. Manual dexterity to manipulate equipment controls and remove defective tablets.

  • Stand/walk for the full shift, with little/no flexibility to move from their stations unless relieved by others. Perform repetitive job duties for long periods of time. Intermittently lift loads of up to 35 pounds. Pulls/pushes large containers of product and uses hand dollies or pallet jacks as necessary.

Environment:

  • Constant exposure to noise levels loud enough to require employees to wear earplugs. Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort. The employee shall wear protective eyewear, a hair net, uniforms, gloves, safety shoes, and, at times, a dust mask.

The salary range for this position is $37,000.00 - $60,000.00.

Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Pharmavite provides compensation for all overtime hours worked by non-exempt (hourly) employees in accordance with state and federal law.
