Job Summary

Lead the day-to-day activities in production and/or packaging floor in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Master all operational equipment required and be flexible to step in wherever needed on a daily basis. Coordinate activities with the Operations Management staff.  Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight and organizes packages.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading all day-to-day production activities under the guidance of the Production Manager.
  • Lead the operation of high-volume industrial bottling and packaging equipment, including but not limited to clearing jams and malfunctions.
  • Load, monitor, count and sort materials, and ensure quality products are being produced in a timely manner on moderately complex to complex machines including drop packing, bliss box, labeling machines, mixing and SIG machines.
  • Understand and be able to complete timely quality checks at each operational position, along with recording results on the computer.
  • Lead the production changeover process and ensure all Machine Operators complete their changeover assignments in a timely manner per Follow quality guidelines to remove all defective products or equipment from line and/or reposition materials to continue efficient production flow.
  • Oversee a review of the production order spec sheet to ensure the bill of materials are using correct production components.
  • Lead weekly safety huddles with all production employees.
  • Assist maintenance technicians with moderately complex tasks as requested, with limited assistance or supervision. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed.
  • Follow strict quality, safety, and operational procedures and ensure all other machine operators conform to those same standards.
  • Lead the effort to cross train others on all machines as deemed necessary.
  • Fill in for other roles as qualified or as assigned.
     
Qualification Requirements

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Work Experience: 5 years working in a related manufacturing or logistics area, preferably with automated machinery. 
License(s) / Certification(s): Forklift Operator Certification is preferred

  • Must be able to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Ability to move and operate safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protection equipment including safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, mask, etc as necessary per job function. 
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and understand English.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Flexibility in working hours as needed by the operations.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team with varying skill levels.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness
