Milling Machine Operator
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Milling Machine Operator in our Asphalt division.The asphalt milling machine operator is responsible for precisely removing existing pavement to the required depth and grade, ensuring a smooth, even surface in preparation for repaving.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Operate milling machines to remove asphalt and concrete surfaces to specified depths and grades
  • Monitor machine performance, material flow, and cutting depth to ensure smooth, even milling
  • Adjust milling equipment settings to meet project specifications and surface requirements
  • Coordinate with paving crews, trucks, and other equipment operators to maintain workflow
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on milling machinery
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues or surface inconsistencies during milling operations
  • Follow project plans, safety procedures, and traffic control requirements at all times
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure proper handling of milled material
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating asphalt milling machines in the paving industry
  • Travel Requirements: Daily travel required, Must have reliable transportation
  • Expert understanding of milling techniques, equipment capabilities, and pavement surface requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, grades, and layout specifications with precision
  • Skilled in performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical adjustments on milling equipment
  • Strong coordination skills to work seamlessly with paving crews, dump trucks, and site supervisors
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality workmanship while meeting production deadlines
  • Adherence to strict safety standards, including traffic control and job site protocols
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills to work effectively with crew members
  • Prior experience in construction, paving, or general labor is a plus but not required
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude toward supporting the paving crew
  • Follow safety procedures and traffic control requirements at all times

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
