Job Description
The City of Americus is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Salary is commensurate with skills and qualifications.
Responsibilities of this position are to perform skilled mechanical work functions associated with repair and maintenance of the city's diesel automotive and mechanical equipment, including heavy trucks and heavy machinery, such as: inspecting, testing and repairing engine components and systems, preventive maintenance work, welding/ fabrication work, answering service calls, operating a wide variety of machinery, equipment and tools, following safety precautions of the trade involving the handling, usage and disposing of oils, solvents and other petroleum products completes and files all necessary paperwork including forms, reports, work orders, and equipment specifications through the usage of computers or other automated devices or machinery.
Qualifications
Requirements include High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year college in automotive technology or closely related field; requires one year experience in automotive maintenance and repair closely related experience; required qualifications may be any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL), including appropriate endorsement(s). Must possess a valid Georgia Drivers License.
