Job Summary
The sanitation manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the GMP's regarding sanitation and cleanliness of machinery in a food processing facility. This will include CIP's and compliance with HAACP. Position is responsible for ensuring proper sanitation and application of chemicals and cleaners throughout the sanitation process. This position will have oversight for the sanitation operators. This position will work during non-production hours to comply with the quality standards prior to production start-up.
Responsibilities
  • Develop Sanitation Program, Food Safety Plans and HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points) Plan.
  • Familiarization with CIP (clean in place) processes and SQF (safe quality food) processes.
  • Planning, implementing and enforcing sanitation, pest control, regulatory and quality food safety policies and procedures in a food production and packaging environment.
  • Creating and documenting a formal and fully compliant sanitation program.
  • Conduct research and implementing policies and protocols for improving sanitation practices.
  • Monitoring and supervising the work of sanitation staff and provide training on sanitation practices.
  • Scheduling and coordinating cleaning activities.
  • Inspection of the plant and equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an effective sanitation program that includes: MSS, daily sanitation, SSOP's, food safety plan, allergens, SQF and HACCP in compliance with customer, regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Communicate any sanitation issues with Plant Manager, Quality Manager, Maintenance Manager and sanitation staff.
  • Drive continual improvement of standard sanitation operating procedures.
  • Work with Quality Manager to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues.
  • Responsible for the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
  • Provide a positive atmosphere that allows mentoring and development of team members.
  • Qualifications
    • 2 years related experience in the food industry as a Sanitation Supervisor
    • 2 years of experience in Manufacturing/Food processing
    • Experienced in sanitation related pre-requisite programs for the food industry, including: GMP's, MSS, SSOP's, Allergen Control, Chemical Control, Pest Control.
    • Must comply with all USDA and FDA regulations.
    • Must understand safety requirements for safe Chemical handling.
    • Must be knowledgeable with SQF Auditing requirements.
    • Strong understanding of commercial food processing and food packaging equipment
    • High school diploma or GED
