Location: Buffalo, MN
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $20 - $30 Hourly - Based on experience; 2nd Shift has a $2.50 shift premium.
Shift(s): 2nd (3:30 PM - 2 AM) 4 Day work week, Monday - Thursday

Job Overview: A press operator in manufacturing is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machines that shape, cut, or form materials like metal into specific parts or products. They ensure that the machines run smoothly, monitor the production process, make adjustments as needed, and perform quality checks on the finished products to meet specifications. Press operators also follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate punch press machines.
  • Setup tools, feeders, coilers and coil straighteners.
  • Inspect and record part dimensions per quality plan and customer specifications.
  • Recognize, report, and troubleshoot causes when parts do not conform to customer specifications.
  • Unload and package finished parts for next operation.
  • Remove and clear scrap from press and work area as needed.
  • Report part counts and labor accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and required.

Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills, multi-tasking skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the basics of progressive tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job packets.
  • Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometer, protractor, height gauge, gauge pins and drop through gauges.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
