Job description

Location: Franklin, Wisconsin

Pay : $22.50 - $25.30 BOE

Shift: Night Shift, 12-hour 2-2-3 schedule (work every other weekend)

Hours: 5:45 PM to 6:00 AM, with overtime as needed based on business requirements. Start times and hours may vary due to staffing coverage, production schedules, and holiday requirements. Strong attendance and punctuality are required.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE...

As a Salty Packaging Machine Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of packaging equipment while maintaining product quality and production standards. You will help drive operational excellence by troubleshooting equipment, performing preventative maintenance, minimizing waste, and ensuring products are packaged accurately and efficiently.

WHAT YOU WILL DO...

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production.
  • Read and interpret production schedules and MicroStrategy reports to plan packaging activities.
  • Maintain required production documentation, including Metal Detector and Batch Order Verifications.
  • Print and manage packaging labels using various printers and programs.
  • Perform nitrogen testing and monitor packaging specifications to ensure product quality.
  • Set up packaging equipment, including bag makers, scales, case sealers, robot cells, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Create and modify machine programs, code dates, and machine micro logic to support efficient operations and reduce waste.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on packaging equipment.
  • Conduct scale calibrations, make equipment adjustments, and ensure proper machine functionality.
  • Complete product changeovers efficiently while minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor machine performance, packaging materials, cutoffs, seals, weights, and production speeds.
  • Perform bag weight checks and quality inspections throughout the shift.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve packaged product quality issues.
  • Properly handle product runoff, rework salvageable product, and account for production losses.
  • Maintain adequate packaging material inventory and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean while following sanitation standards.
  • Immediately report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to maintenance or supervision.
  • Follow all food safety, quality, safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Assist with seasoning system monitoring and replenishment when applicable.
  • May provide guidance and direction to Packers and serve as a backup for Packaging Coordinator or other skilled positions.
  • Support additional operational responsibilities as assigned, including mandatory overtime when required.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE... (MUST HAVE)

  • Ability to safely operate packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, production documentation, numbers, and product specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and make minor machine adjustments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with heavier loads.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with loud noise, moving machinery, humidity, and varying conditions.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE... (NICE TO HAVE)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of manufacturing, packaging, or production experience.
  • Experience operating automated packaging equipment, scales, baggers, case packers, or robotic systems.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance or equipment troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with MicroStrategy or other production scheduling systems.
  • Experience with machine programming, code dating systems, and packaging label printers.
  • Prior leadership experience providing guidance to production or packaging team members.
  • Food manufacturing experience and knowledge of food safety practices.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
