Job description

Our flexible options include 11.5-hour shifts (Mon-Wed) and 5.5-hour shift (Thursday). And when the unexpected does arise, we'll work with you to help you be where, and when, you are needed most.
Wenger Corporation is seeking a Metal Machine Operator to provide an exceptional customer experience by performing operation of metal fabrication equipment while working under limited supervision within assigned areas in a manner which meets or exceeds established quality and quantity standards.
At a minimum, you'll need:
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with solid basic math skills
  • Comfortable using a variety of hand tools and precision measuring devices
  • Willingness and ability to learn and perform multiple tasks within the work area
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Proficient in navigating and using various computer systems and screens

It would be great if you also have:
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or machining environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and detailed work instructions
  • Experience operating CNC equipment
  • Flexibility to adjust and plan work around changing schedules
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license
  • Technical training or trade school certification

In this role, a typical day might include:
  • Set up and operate metal fabrication machinery including CNC press brakes, punch press, drill press, grinder, spot welder, saw, tube bender, shear, lasers cutters, turret punches, CNC sheet folder, in-line punching and roll-forming unit
  • Follow standard work procedures, blueprints, or work instructions to ensure accurate and consistent part production
  • Perform programming and/or program modifications as needed for brake presses
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and collaborate with maintenance as needed
  • Perform quality checks of finished parts, make necessary adjustments, or seek guidance when needed
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality departments to resolve production issues
  • Assist with machine setup and basic maintenance
  • Monitor equipment performance and notify a supervisor of any mechanical issues or irregularities
  • Accurately record production data, complete required paperwork, and perform necessary computer transactions
  • Support in assembly through packing of finished goods as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety policies and procedures and 5S standards
  • Assist in training new operators as directed
  • Participate in cross-training and support other departments as needed
  • Work positively in group settings, valuing input from others and offering assistance when needed to ensure success
  • Contribute to a team-based culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • English proficiency is required for this manufacturing position to ensure safety compliance and fulfillment of operational needs. The candidate must be able to speak, read and understand English in order to follow equipment instructions, understand safety protocols and respond to emergency situations. Strong English skills are also necessary for communicating with team members, supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth production processes and to maintain quality standards.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the team member is continuously required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The team member is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, squat, bend, twist/turn and climb ladder/stairs. The team member is continuously required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate machines, equipment, tools or controls. Team member is continuously required to reach with hands and arms. The functions of the job include occasionally viewing a computer monitor and repetitive motion activities on the keyboard. The team member may continuously be required to lift, move, push/pull up to and over 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
