Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in Bennettsville, South Carolina to find an experienced and eager Production Operator to join their growing team!
A production operator is responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The production operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and adjusting, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Set up machinery and ensure all production materials as needed.
  • Operate and monitor equipment and replenish materials as needed.
  • Visually inspect production run and document results.
  • Determine and report malfunctions to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on equipment
  • Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
  • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
  • Housekeeping and sanitation
SKILLS & PROFICIENCIES:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-3 year of general work experience required.
  • Prior production/manufacturing machine operation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial technology a plus.
  • Basic math skills and reading comprehension.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting to 40 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas were under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment.
  • For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Wipe product off pouches
  • Type code in printer and verify it is correct
  • Change codes every hour
  • Keep pouch magazine filled with pouches
  • Pull unfilled pouches off machine
  • Keep machine and work area clean
  • Inspect pouches
  • Open rework
  • Operate fillers
  • Assist line mechanics with various duties
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Help in other departments as needed
Pay rate for this position is $14.50 an hour.
This position is predominantly 2nd shift.
