MACHINE OPERATOR ASSISTANT - Printing Press Sheet Fed Feeder

3rd Shift 11pm-7am

$21-$22.50 PLUS Shift Premium

Job Summary

The Sheet Press Feeder is responsible for aiding the Press Operator in the operation of the press to ensure acceptable quality at maximum productivity. The feeder will ensure all product specifications are met, ensure paper is loaded, perform preventive maintenance on the press and accurately record production data on job tickets, load slips etc.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure paper is loaded, and all plates, stock, ink, and proofs for the next job are at the press before previous job is completed.
  • Empty waste ink, chemical containers, and soiled rag containers daily.
  • Monitor pH and conductivity of fountain solution on presses.
  • Ensure skids are properly marked for next operation prior to leaving the pressroom.
  • Ensure work produced exceeds quality guidelines.
  • Accurately record production data on job tickets, load slips etc.
  • Work with Press Operator to ensure preventive maintenance is performed each week.
  • Train to be a Press Operator to insure PTO coverage and Progression.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Able to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, job tickets, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
  • Understand basic math.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively demonstrate initiative and creativity; teamwork and cooperation; and adhere to and comply with all company and environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and work rules required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime and other shifts required.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance required.

DesiredQualifications

  • Ability to read a ruler.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems with machines.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Previous press experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
