Job Summary:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and delivery of materials. The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in maintaining safety standards, productivity, and ensuring timely deliveries within the production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate and maintain the forklift, ensuring compliance with all safety guidelines and operational procedures.
  • Complete daily forklift inspections before shift start and when operating new equipment, submitting maintenance work orders for necessary repairs.
  • Prior to the start of each shift, ensure that stock is located and prepared for delivery to machines, optimizing workflow and efficiency.
  • Remove finished goods from machines, ensuring they are stored properly and accurately labeled.
  • Organize and maintain stock in designated storage areas, adhering to safety and operational best practices.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork, including inventory tracking, production data, and safety records.
  • Maintain up-to-date stock locations in both physical storage areas and computer systems, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Maximize equipment utilization by ensuring machinery operates at full capacity and speed in accordance with the daily production schedule.
  • Proactively assist fellow forklift operators and provide support as needed, including serving as a backup for the Shipping Lead.
  • Complete regular reports, including but not limited to: production data, machine status, safety compliance, and quality assurance data.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in the corrugated industry and/or as a forklift operator.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret factory instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Mathematical Skills: Competence in reading a tape measure and performing basic calculations (e.g., percentages, measurement, volume, rate).
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to follow written, oral, or graphic instructions and solve basic operational problems.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of forklift design, capabilities, and operational efficiency. Familiarity with product layouts, production specifications, and quality standards.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • A valid and current Forklift Operator License is required.

Physical Demands:
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Occasionally required to sit and lift/move up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements: close, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, and high places.
