Metalcrafters NC is looking for a dependable and motivated Machine Operator to join our growing shop production team. This position plays a critical role in the fabrication process by safely operating machinery and equipment used to cut, drill, punch, form, and prepare miscellaneous metal components for production.

We're looking for individuals who take pride in quality workmanship, value accountability, prioritize safety, and work well as part of a team in a fast-paced fabrication environment.


What You'll Be Responsible For
  • Safely set up and operate assigned shop machinery and metal fabrication equipment
  • Read and follow shop drawings, work orders, cut lists, and production instructions
  • Measure, mark, cut, drill, punch, and form materials according to required dimensions and specifications
  • Verify measurements and completed parts for accuracy and quality before moving them to the next stage of production
  • Perform basic machine adjustments, setups, and tooling changes as required
  • Inspect machinery and equipment before use and report maintenance, operational, or safety concerns
  • Identify and properly handle different material types, sizes, thicknesses, and job-specific material tags
  • Safely handle steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other fabrication materials
  • Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and moving materials throughout the shop
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine station and surrounding work area
  • Follow daily production schedules, work orders, and shop production goals
  • Communicate material shortages, drawing discrepancies, equipment issues, and production delays to shop leadership
  • Complete required production documentation and utilize the Metalcrafters app as required
  • Follow all company safety procedures, machine-specific safety requirements, PPE standards, and established shop policies
  • Support other shop departments and production needs as required to maintain workflow and productivity

Qualifications
  • Prior machine operation, manufacturing, metal fabrication, welding, or industrial shop experience preferred
  • Experience operating metalworking or fabrication machinery preferred
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic shop math
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, dimensions, work orders, and fabrication instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability and willingness to learn new machinery and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality control
  • Ability to safely operate machinery, hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment
  • Ability to identify different material types, sizes, and thicknesses
  • Self-driven, dependable, and motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently once properly trained
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to problem solve and identify production or equipment issues
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed
  • Comfortable working in an active fabrication shop environment around machinery, noise, sparks, metal dust, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical shop duties throughout the workday
  • Ability to maintain required equipment and safety certifications as applicable
  • Willingness to work overtime when required to meet production schedules
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
