Overall Responsibility:

The Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in a steel blanking facility. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The Millwright will work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to maintain a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Install, assemble, and align mechanical components, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Conduct routine inspections and ensure equipment operates at peak efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, and engineering teams to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Document maintenance activities and generate reports as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements, including workplace safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) in Ontario.
  • Experience with Automotive Stamping or Blanking presses is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an automotive or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and gear systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with welding, machining, and fabricating components is an asset.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis and thermography.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools for mechanical repairs.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and PLC troubleshooting is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an asset.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
