About the role

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Production Helper in Coniston ON focused on ensuring production occurs on a timely basis following all safety procedures and taking a pro-active teamwork approach focused on coordinating assigned machine operation and product handling functions.


The vacancy is to fill an existing position, this is a replacement.

What you will be doing

Safety, Health & Environment

  • Compliance with Safety Charter and immediate reporting of any accidents, injuries or incidents.ย 
  • Alerts management immediately about any safety concerns.
  • Reports any injuries/accidents immediately.
  • Participates in safety activities and training regularly. ย 
  • Full understanding of machine operation and awareness of product movement in production.ย 
  • Proper use/inspection of all personal protective equipment and safety materials.
  • Ensure Proper PPE is worn at all times.

Operations ย 

  • Knowledge and ability to run assigned production machines.
  • Start up and shut down machines and product moving belts following precautions.
  • Operation of machines preparing finished product.
  • Understanding control panels, valves, and related monitors.ย 
  • Perform quality control checks including reviewing waste materials.ย 
  • Unload and preparation of raw materials utilized in production.
  • Preventative maintenance greasing schedule including focus parts and process to clean/change all filters.
  • Demonstrated ability on lock out/tag out, safety systems and controls.ย 
  • Maintenance of Orica's housekeeping standards always.ย 
  • Knowledge of where product should be stored in the plant, inventory tracking and awareness of potential hazards of mixing various elements. ย 
  • Operation of Loader and Forklifts.
  • Knowledge of what products are compatible, and the maximum load capacity of an Explosive load.
  • Ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are kept clean inside.
  • Ensuring proper PPE is worn at all times.ย 

Teamwork

  • Success in pro-actively working in a team environment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Aid other team members daily.ย 
  • Ability to prioritize ongoing daily tasks, and high priority situations to maximize efficiency with input from various functions of the plant.ย 
  • Clear and professional communication with both plant leaders and fellow team members always.ย 
  • Participation in plant meetings and training sessions.

  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to quickly determine potential issues and problem solve accordingly.ย

Role dimensions

Work Schedule:ย Monday to Friday
Hours: Weekly rotating shifts: Day shift 8:00am - 4:00pm / Night shift 12:00 midnight - 8:00am / Afternoon shift 4:00pm-12midnight

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ย 
ย  ย Work Environment involves being outside in all types of weather.
ย  ย Must be flexible to plant operation demands including work schedules.
ย  ย Lifting up to 60 pounds including tools and bags of product.
ย  ย Pushing/Pulling in working with equipment.ย 
ย  ย Other Activities include frequent standing, bending and squatting with occasional work on knees.

Compensationย
