American Rheinmetall continues to expand its advanced machining capabilities at its Lapeer, Michigan facility to support growing defense and commercial manufacturing programs.

This role plays a critical part in producing large, complex machined components used in military vehicle systems, fabricated structures, and mission-critical products. We're looking for an experienced 5-axis machinist who can take ownership of setup, programming, troubleshooting, and production while helping support the next phase of growth within our machining operations.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate large-format 5-axis CNC machining centers
  • Program and optimize machining operations using Mastercam
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements
  • Establish work offsets, tooling compensation, and machine setups
  • Perform machine prove-outs and first-piece inspections
  • Align and locate large workpieces using stock models and tooling balls
  • Hang and fixture large components on horizontal machining centers
  • Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot tooling, machine, and process issues through root-cause analysis
  • Complete production and quality documentation within Plex ERP
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, materials, and programming teams
  • Support preventive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards
