Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Employment Type: Full-Time


Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong New Product Development (NPD) experience to support the design and development of innovative mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in sheet metal, casting, and rotomolded component design using SolidWorks, along with strong engineering analysis capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for new product development projects.
  • Create detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks.
  • Design components involving:
  • Sheet metal
  • Castings
  • Rotomolded parts
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure manufacturability and assembly fit.
  • Conduct engineering calculations including:
  • Free Body Diagram (FBD) analysis
  • Machine design calculations
  • Structural and mechanical evaluations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and product validation activities.
  • Drive design improvements for performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in New Product Development (NPD).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical design.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with machine design principles and engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, casting, and rotomolding.
