Job description

What do we Need?

We are anticipating adding on to our team in the near future. We’re looking for Controls Systems Drafter/Designer candidates who are ready to learn, contribute, and build a strong foundation in electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADe). We have the flexibility to offer work to someone early in their career who wants hands-on experience, mentorship, and real professional growth, or an experienced individual who can make an immediate contribution to the range of projects in our design portfolio.

Who is BW Systems, Inc.?

BW Systems, Inc. in South Saint Paul is a premier automation solutions company known for delivering complex, high-impact engineering projects with precision and expertise. Our team brings deep technical knowledge, creative problem-solving, and real-world experience - from a wide range of industries and applications - to every system we design and build.

But what truly sets us apart isn’t just what we do — it’s how we work.

We’re a small, agile company where decisions move quickly, ideas are welcomed, and people genuinely know and support each other. You won’t get lost in layers of bureaucracy here. Your work matters, your voice is heard, and your growth is a priority.

BW Systems, Inc. is a “hidden gem” employer — not a household name, but a place where talented professionals come to do meaningful work, develop their skills, and enjoy being part of a collaborative, down-to-earth culture.

If you have experience as an electrical drafter or designer and are looking for:

· The technical depth of complex engineering projects

· The flexibility and responsiveness of a nimble organization

· A supportive, team-first culture

· Real opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow

Then you will want to take a close look at this opportunity.

What You Will Do

Working closely with experienced engineers and designers, you’ll help bring control systems to life through accurate, organized, and high-quality technical documentation.

With mentorship and guidance, you will:

· Develop engineering drawings such as power one-line diagrams, network cabling layouts, and P&IDs from engineering redlines

· Create detailed electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical using smart components (power distribution, drive systems, PLC I/O modules)

· Produce electrical control panel assembly drawings from engineering bills of material

· Support drawing updates and redline cleanup for project documentation and archival

· Collaborate with drafters, designers, and lead engineers to ensure consistency and project timing

· Expand your knowledge of advanced ACADe tools through team learning and shared best practices

· Take on additional technical drafting tasks as you grow in the role

Wage: $60k-$80k/annual and medical, dental, life insurance, 401K, and other benefits.
