Job description

American GFM Corporation, based in Chesapeake, Virginia, is a leading manufacturer of high-precision tooling and machinery for the metalworking and composites industries. Serving customers throughout North America, the company specializes in advanced equipment such as crankshaft and camshaft milling machines, rotary forging machines, ultrasonic cutting machines, and composite routing machines. As an Electrical/Electronic Service Technician, you will play a key role in assembling, installing, and servicing these complex machines, ensuring they operate at peak performance for our clients. Responsibilities
  • Assemble machine control cabinets, consoles, and terminal boxes, including component layout, drilling, tapping, labeling, wiring, and making cut-outs and hole penetrations.
  • Prepare machine and control cables, including crimping, soldering, stripping, labeling, and end terminations.
  • Fabricate wireways, mount and wire machine components, pull in cables, and complete terminations as required.
  • Power up, debug, and verify machine functionality according to design specifications.
  • Install and start up machines at customer facilities, integrate with automation systems, and provide training to operators and maintenance technicians on proper operation, setup, and repair.
  • Deliver follow-up service to ensure machinery continues to operate according to design and customer requirements.
Qualifications
  • Experience using basic electrical hand tools and power tools, such as cutters, strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, drills, grinders, and saws.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment, including servo drives and programmable controllers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Background in electronic engineering or prior electronic service experience in the machine tool industry preferred.
