Job description

D.H. Griffin Infrastructure, a leader in heavy civil construction across North Carolina and the Carolinas, is seeking a skilled Civil Machine Control Modeler to join its expanding Survey CAD Department. Responsibilities
  • Build, update, and quality control subgrade and finished grade surface models in Trimble Business Center for GPS-controlled dozers and excavators across multiple active projects.
  • Interpret civil design drawings to create accurate machine control models for grading and underground utilities.
  • Coordinate with Survey Project Managers and field crews to ensure models are current, accurate, and ready for field use.
  • Maintain organized project file structures and manage model version control.
  • Distribute updated models to field data collectors and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Assist with photogrammetry/UAS data processing for quantity analysis as needed.
  • Support as-built CAD drafting and survey computation tasks as required by workload.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of department procedures and assist with implementation across projects.
Qualifications
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • General knowledge of site and utility construction surveying principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in CAD/modeling software such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, or Microstation.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.
  • Associate's degree or technical certificate in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Trimble Business Center for machine control model development preferred.
  • Familiarity with Trimble construction equipment and software, including Earthworks, Siteworks, GCS900, SPS900, and Access, is a plus.
  • Prior experience in site civil construction, land surveying, or heavy civil contracting environments preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in civil construction, surveying, drafting, or machine control modeling is advantageous.
