Job description

Machine Builder (Automation Equipment)
Location: Lake Orion, MI (travel to Marysville, OH & East Liberty, OH as required)
Pay Rate: Up to $33.79/hr (W-2)
Schedule: Day shift (start as early as 7 AM) | Currently 56 hrs/week | Must be open to all shifts | May work up to 72 hrs/week
Duration: Contract
 


About the Role

We’re seeking experienced Machine Builders to join the Automation team in Lake Orion, MI. This position involves assembling custom automation equipment per mechanical drawings and specifications. Ideal candidates have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in custom machine or automation assembly.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble automation and manufacturing equipment according to mechanical drawings and documentation

  • Communicate build issues, changes, and progress with the Machine Build Lead

  • Ensure compliance with ISO Quality standards and company safety procedures

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the work area

  • Operate machinery including mills, lathes, drills, presses, grinders, saws, and shears

  • Assist with material prep for finishing, heat treat, and deburring processes


Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in machine building or custom automation assembly

  • Ability to read and interpret part and assembly drawings

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with commitment to safety and quality

  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, kneeling, climbing)

  • Valid or ability to obtain certifications in Forklift, Aerial Platform, Overhead Crane, and Lockout/Tagout

  • Must provide own hand tools and toolbox
