Job description

The Capital Equipment Builder is responsible for assembling complex capital equipment and machinery according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions, and a commitment to producing high-quality equipment for customer delivery. This position plays a critical role in ensuring capital equipment is built to specification, tested thoroughly, and delivered to customers with the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical components into complete equipment systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
  • Install and align machine components, subassemblies, and support systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to improve assembly processes.
  • Document assembly activities, deviations, and test results as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following company safety policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in machinery assembly, equipment building, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and schematics.
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.

Physical Requirements

Target Salary Range: $62,000 - 75,000 per year, paid hourly.  Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, level, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.  Full-time positions are eligible for competitive benefits, including: paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, disability benefits and 401(k).
