Job description

ACCOUNTING CLERK - MAC
Hiring Pay Range: $19.71 to $20.92 per hour, DOE
Range 31, 12 months - 261 days/year
Schedule: 40 hrs/week, Monday - Friday
NOTE:  This position is eligible for our full benefits package, including medical, dental and vision, with a generous employer contribution!

Location: Murphey Administration Center
Target Start Date: ASAP
Definition:  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance, incumbent performs accounting functions of moderate complexity. This role is responsible for the systematic maintenance of fiscal records, the execution of internal compliance audits, and the accurate processing of expense reporting in alignment with the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR).
Essential Functions:         (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Responsibilities: 












  • Establish new General Ledger accounts, fund and project codes.
  • Process formal budget transfers and track utility expenditures for precise budgetary forecasting.
  • Process support documentation requirements for the National School Lunch Program.
  • Conduct rigorous audits for the National School Lunch Program applications.
  • Assist in processing commodities and surplus food orders for the district.
  • Verify and assist in the payment of accounts payable invoices to ensure timely vendor disbursements.
  • Maintain chart of accounts spreadsheet for the district.
  • Conduct technical audits of enrollment and withdrawal forms from all schools to ensure data integrity.
  • Review and reconcile sign-in/sign-out sheets for all schools to ensure student attendance is accurately captured for state reporting.
  • Perform other specialized accounting and clerical tasks as required by the Finance Department. 
     

 
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, automated accounting systems (ERP), and advanced spreadsheet applications.
  • Quantitative Skill: Advanced skill in performing basic arithmetic and high-volume data entry with speed and accuracy.
  • Analytical Precision: Expertise in proofreading and verifying detailed financial work to identify discrepancies.
  • Confidentiality: Proven skill in handling sensitive fiscal and student data with total discretion.
  • Communication: Skill in communicating technical information effectively, both orally and in writing, to staff and administrators.
  • Professionalism: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a school district environment.
     

 
Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: One year of professional experience performing accounting or compliance functions similar to those indicated above.
