Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior M365 Exchange Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and hybrid Exchange environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who can support complex enterprise messaging environments while also designing and building new solutions across email security, automation, Microsoft Copilot, and emerging AI technologies.

The ideal candidate brings strong Microsoft messaging and security fundamentals along with experience using PowerShell, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, and AI technologies to modernize and automate M365 services.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, engineer, administer, and optimize Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online environments.
• Support and enhance Exchange hybrid environments, including on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online integration.
• Design and implement new messaging, security, automation, and M365 solutions rather than solely maintaining existing environments.
• Manage enterprise email security platforms, with a strong emphasis on Proofpoint.
• Configure and optimize secure email gateways, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Exchange Online Protection (EOP), anti-phishing, anti-spam, and quarantine policies.
• Engineer and troubleshoot complex mail flow, connectors, transport rules, routing, and message delivery.
• Implement and maintain email authentication and domain protection using DMARC, DKIM, and SPF.
• Develop and manage DLP, compliance, retention, and messaging security controls within Microsoft 365.
• Administer and integrate Microsoft Entra ID with M365 messaging and security services.
• Develop advanced PowerShell scripts to automate administration, reporting, provisioning, troubleshooting, and operational processes.
• Build workflows and solutions using Microsoft Power Automate.
• Design and develop solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
• Explore and implement practical AI and generative AI capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem.
• Work with technologies such as Azure AI Foundry, large language models (LLMs), and Copilot to develop new productivity and automation solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex messaging, security, identity, and integration issues across enterprise environments.
• Develop technical documentation, architecture standards, operational procedures, and solution designs.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, identity, application, and business teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in Microsoft 365, Exchange, messaging engineering, or email security.
• Senior-level expertise with Microsoft 365 / Office 365.
• Advanced experience with Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Proofpoint email security technologies.
• Strong understanding of enterprise email security and secure email gateway architecture.
• Experience with:
• Microsoft Defender for Office 365
• Exchange Online Protection (EOP)
• Anti-phishing and anti-spam technologies
• DMARC, DKIM, and SPF
• Mail flow and transport rules
• DLP and compliance
• Email quarantine management
• Microsoft Entra ID
• Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Experience designing and implementing new technical solutions in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across messaging, identity, security, and Microsoft cloud technologies.

The successful candidate is more than an M365 administrator. We are looking for a senior-level engineer and solution builder who understands enterprise messaging at a deep technical level and can identify opportunities to improve the environment through security, automation, Copilot, and AI.

This individual should be comfortable taking a requirement or business problem, developing the technical approach, and building the solution from concept through production deployment.
