Job description

Hardwood Mill Manager
Woodhaven Furniture | Cairo, Georgia

Lead the Operation That Drives Our Furniture Manufacturing

Woodhaven Furniture is seeking an experienced Hardwood Mill Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Hardwood Mill and ensure the efficient production of high-quality hardwood components used throughout our furniture manufacturing process. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement while developing a high-performing team. If you enjoy solving operational challenges, leading people, and improving manufacturing performance, we invite you to join our team.

What You'll Own

As the Hardwood Mill Manager, you'll lead all aspects of the Hardwood Mill, ensuring rough lumber is transformed into precision components that support downstream manufacturing operations. You'll be responsible for production scheduling, workflow management, labor utilization, and maintaining consistent quality standards while meeting production goals and controlling operating costs.

You'll coach and develop supervisors and production employees, foster a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations. Working closely with Maintenance, you'll coordinate preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and minimize production interruptions. You'll also partner with Quality, Engineering, CNC Operations, and other manufacturing departments to ensure material is delivered on time and meets exact specifications.

Using production data and key performance indicators, you'll identify opportunities to improve lumber yield, reduce waste, increase throughput, and strengthen overall operational efficiency. Your leadership will play a critical role in supporting Woodhaven's commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate has 7-10 years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least five years of leadership experience in hardwood processing, woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, or furniture manufacturing. You possess a strong understanding of hardwood species, lumber grading, moisture content, machining processes, and lumber yield optimization. Experience leading teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment is essential, along with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, production metrics, ERP systems, and continuous improvement practices is highly valued.

A Typical Shift

Your day begins by reviewing safety performance, production results, equipment status, and the day's manufacturing schedule before heading to the production floor. You'll spend time observing operations, meeting with supervisors, monitoring material flow from rough lumber through machining, and ensuring production remains on schedule. Throughout the day, you'll work with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues, review quality and yield data, adjust priorities as production demands change, and remove obstacles that could impact downstream manufacturing. You'll finish the day by reviewing performance metrics, communicating priorities with your leadership team, and preparing the operation for the next shift.

Why Woodhaven?

At Woodhaven Furniture, you'll have the opportunity to lead a critical manufacturing operation where your leadership directly impacts productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. We value teamwork, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, and we're committed to providing our leaders with the resources they need to succeed.

Your Benefits

Woodhaven offers a competitive compensation package including Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401(k), Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Employee Discounts, and opportunities for career growth and professional development.

If you're ready to lead a high-performing Hardwood Mill operation and help build quality furniture from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today!
