Description
The Lubrication Technician ensures the reliability and efficiency of plant equipment by implementing and maintaining lubrication programs. This role involves applying lubricants, monitoring lubricant conditions, performing contamination control, and supporting preventive maintenance strategies. The technician will conduct inspections, collect and analyze oil samples, maintain accurate records in CMMS, and assist in developing lubrication standards.
Available Shift:
Friday-Sunday: 6:00am-6:30pm (+$2 shift differential)
The compensation range for this position is $21.00- $27.00. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions.
Essential Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities
• Apply lubricants (oils, greases) to machinery and equipment according to OEM specifications and maintenance schedules.
• Unload chemical tanker trucks that arrive at the facility.
• Operate lubrication tools and systems, including manual grease guns, automatic lubricators, oil-mist systems, and filtration units.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as reservoir draining, filter and breather changes, and contamination control.
• Collect oil samples for laboratory analysis; conduct basic field tests (viscosity, crackle, blotter).
• Interpret oil analysis reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain lubrication inventory and ensure proper labeling of reservoirs and dispensing systems.
• Update CMMS with lubrication activities, schedules, and work orders.
• Inspect equipment for leaks, contamination, and lubrication-related issues.
• Collaborate with maintenance and reliability teams to improve lubrication practices.
• Comply with all safety standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
• Supports the Mission of the organization and adheres to all company policies
• Performs other duties as directed
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in maintenance or lubrication roles.
• ICML Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT) certification preferred.
• Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques and oil analysis programs.
Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Strong understanding of lubrication principles (viscosity, contamination control, filtration).
  • Ability to operate lubrication equipment and perform oil sampling/testing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with rotating equipment and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic computer skills for CMMS data entry and reporting.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify early signs of equipment wear or lubricant degradation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Working Conditions

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving around the production floor.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights when required.
• Repetitive motions, including twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
