Job description

Job Posting Information We're looking for a mechanically inclined Water Service Technician I to join the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) team. If you have experience making minor plumbing and mechanical repairs, we want to hear from you. Lincoln Water System is one of 11 divisions in the City of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) Department.

The LTU team provides transit, transportation, and utilities services year-round to the citizens of Lincoln. Nearly 600 team members make up LTU. We feel the importance of building relationships within our divisions and department and with our community partners.

We value our team's forward -thinking attitude and pride ourselves on good stewardship of our environment. We celebrate our individual strengths that in turn take our teams to new levels of accomplishment. What You'll Do: Perform water main service taps 1" and smaller in size.

Inspect water service lines to verify correct material usage, conformance with local codes and ordinances, and quality assurance for the customers of the Lincoln Water System. Respond to routine, miscellaneous, and emergency water service calls requested by various sources. Installation, testing, and repair of water meters to ensure water meter's registration is consistent with standards established for metering accuracy.

Assist in an active program of water meter replacements. Extensive contact with the public and in-home service calls. Perform tasks in excavations and confined spaces.

Daily use of computer and other electronic equipment Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. On-Call as scheduled

Desired Qualification: Bi-lingual skills desirable. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school Six months of experience in making minor plumbing repairs and installations Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities, and skills may be considered.
