What is an LTE RF optimization engineer?

LTE RF Optimization Engineers are specialized professionals who work on optimizing the radio frequency (RF) performance of LTE (Long Term Evolution) cellular networks. Their main responsibilities include analyzing network data, troubleshooting coverage or quality issues, and making parameter adjustments to improve signal quality, capacity, and user experience. They use tools and software for drive testing, data analysis, and network planning, collaborating with other engineers and teams to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal network performance. This role is critical for maintaining high-quality mobile services and efficient network operations.

What are some common challenges faced by an LTE RF optimization engineer when working with live cellular networks?

LTE RF Optimization Engineers often encounter challenges such as fluctuating network performance due to environmental changes, interference from neighboring cells, and evolving user traffic patterns. Troubleshooting these issues requires strong analytical skills and expertise in using drive test tools and network optimization software. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including network planning and field engineers, is essential to implement effective solutions and ensure optimal coverage and quality of service. Adapting to rapidly changing technology and continuous network upgrades also keeps the role dynamic and challenging.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an LTE RF optimization engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an LTE RF Optimization Engineer, you need a solid background in wireless communications, radio frequency theory, and a relevant engineering degree. Expertise in tools like TEMS, Atoll, Actix, and proficiency with network performance analysis software and protocols such as LTE, VoLTE, and 5G are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective communication make an engineer stand out in this role. These skills are crucial to ensure optimal network performance, minimize downtime, and deliver high-quality service to mobile users.

The Radar team is seeking an experienced Staff RF Engineer to help us design, test, and deploy the next generation of US radars. The Radar team is responsible for all aspects of radar system development, from the ideation stage through initial production.  In this role, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary technical team to define radar architectures, design solutions, build prototypes, perform testing, and mature the prototypes into products.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Own the design and development of advanced phased arrays and RF electronics for military radar systems, ensuring cutting-edge performance and reliability.
  • Lead testing, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts to ensure radar systems meet rigorous performance requirements across various operating environments.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and ensuring quality across the team's deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define radar architectures, system concepts, and end-to-end product requirements.
  • Conduct trade studies, RF simulations, and prototyping to drive innovation and ensure optimal system performance.
  • Drive technical decision-making and contribute to programmatic strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives and mission success.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to maintain Anduril's technological edge.
  • Support production ramp-up, including design for manufacturing (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and supplier engagement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in developing RF electronics, phased arrays, antennas or related radar electronics
  • Proficiency in RF design and analysis tools such as Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, or comparable tools.
  • Expertise with RF measurement equipment, including Network Analyzers, Signal Analyzers, and Near Field Scanners.
  • Strong knowledge of PCB design (schematic capture, layout), with experience in tools like Altium.
  • Deep understanding of electronic systems engineering, including design specification, part selection, and test planning.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, solve complex problems, and implement innovative solutions with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

TOOL FAMILIARITY:
