Job description

Spectrum & Wireless Engineer (LTE/5G)
Location: CONUS with up to 10–15% travel (OCONUS as required)
Clearance: Active Secret

ActioNet is looking for a Spectrum & Wireless  (LTE/5G) Engineer

The Spectrum & Wireless Engineer provides technical support across spectrum management, SATCOM, enterprise WLAN, and 4G LTE/5G wireless systems within mission and Base Area Network (BAN) environments. This individual contributor role designs, deploys, and sustains mobile broadband, cellular, and WLAN infrastructure, ensuring optimal coverage, performance, and compliance with DoD, Air Force, and international spectrum regulations.
Responsibilities include RF planning, predictive and on-site site surveys, spectrum allocation and deconfliction, frequency request processing, EMI analysis and mitigation, and integration of LTE/5G RAN and core components (SA/NSA architectures).

The role supports installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of wireless and SATCOM systems, while ensuring adherence to STIG, RMF, FIPS, TEMPEST, and Zero-Trust requirements.

The engineer maintains spectrum databases and technical documentation (RF heat maps, design diagrams, certification packages), collaborates with network engineering and cybersecurity teams, and provides technical input during operational planning, inspections, and exercises. Strong analytical skills, RF engineering expertise, and the ability to operate independently in support of mission-critical communications are essential.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Spectrum management experience including frequency request processing, allocation, and deconfliction
  • Proficiency with Spectrum XXI, HNWSDO, JSIRO, ACES/JACS, SPEED, RTSO, and spectrum analyzers (e.g., PR200, Spectrum Guard Pro)
  • RF engineering expertise including predictive modeling, heat mapping, site surveys (indoor/outdoor), and interference analysis
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise WLAN and mobile broadband/cellular systems
  • Knowledge of LTE and 5G NR architectures (RAN, eNodeB/gNodeB, SA/NSA, core functions such as AMF, SMF, UPF)
  • Experience with RF performance metrics (SINR, RSRP, RSRQ), drive testing, and spectrum monitoring
  • Familiarity with SATCOM planning, coordination, and troubleshooting
  • Experience conducting EMI analysis and mitigation planning
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (STIG, RMF, FIPS, TEMPEST, Zero-Trust)
  • Ability to install, configure, test, and troubleshoot wireless and cellular systems
  • Strong technical documentation skills (RF assessments, heat maps, installation packages, compliance documentation)
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with network engineering, cybersecurity, and operational teams
