What engineers make $200,000 a year?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as software engineering, petroleum engineering, and certain electrical or aerospace engineering roles can earn $200,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills, and in high-demand industries. These positions often require advanced degrees, certifications, and expertise in specific tools or technologies.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced senior engineers in specialized fields such as petroleum, aerospace, or certain executive-level engineering roles can earn $500,000 or more annually. These positions often require advanced skills, certifications, and extensive industry experience, and may include bonuses or profit-sharing components.

What is an LTE engineer?

An LTE engineer is a telecommunications professional who designs, implements, and maintains Long-Term Evolution (LTE) wireless networks. They work with network equipment, perform site surveys, optimize signal coverage, and troubleshoot connectivity issues, often using tools like network analyzers and requiring knowledge of radio frequency principles and industry standards.

What are LTE Engineers?

LTE Engineers are telecommunications professionals who specialize in designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless networks. They ensure that mobile networks provide reliable, high-speed data and voice services to users. Their work involves configuring network equipment, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing network performance to meet industry standards. LTE Engineers may also collaborate with vendors and other engineers to plan and upgrade network infrastructure as technology evolves.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as software engineering, petroleum engineering, and certain aerospace engineering roles can earn $300,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills, and in high-demand industries. Executive or managerial engineering positions may also reach this level with bonuses and stock options.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an LTE Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an LTE Engineer, you need a solid background in telecommunications, radio frequency (RF) engineering, and network protocols, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Proficiency with tools such as LTE test equipment, network simulators, and planning software (e.g., Atoll, TEMS), as well as relevant certifications like CCNA or 3GPP standards knowledge, is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for diagnosing network issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These skills and qualifications are essential to ensure optimal network performance, efficient troubleshooting, and successful deployment of LTE technologies.

What are some of the biggest challenges LTE Engineers face when optimizing network performance?

LTE Engineers often encounter challenges such as managing network congestion, ensuring seamless handovers between cells, and minimizing dropped calls or data interruptions. Balancing bandwidth allocation and optimizing coverage while integrating new technologies like VoLTE can also be demanding. Collaboration with field technicians, RF engineers, and network planners is essential to address these issues and maintain a high-quality user experience.

Job description

Parallel Wireless is reimagining mobile networks with innovative, energy-efficient Open RAN solutions. Join us as we lead the future of telecommunications, driving innovation through green and sustainable networks. Learn more about our mission, vision and values.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in telecommunications, 4G/LTE protocol stack development, and real-time systems programming.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in LTE control-plane and data-plane layers (RRC, MAC, RLC, PDCP) and proven skills in C/C++ development on Unix/Linux environments. This role is focused on core product development, feature implementation, and field issue resolution—not QA, testing, or integration. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, code, and deliver high-performance LTE solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop 4G/LTE protocol stack features (control-plane & data-plane).
  • Work on protocol layers such as RRC, LTE-MAC, RLC, and PDCP.
  • Write, optimize, and debug C/C++ code on Unix/Linux/POSIX real-time operating systems.
  • Analyze and resolve customer-reported and internal QA issues.
  • Handle field issues, debugging, and customer support escalations.
  • Bring up and maintain LTE test setups in a running state.
  • Collaborate with peers to augment LTE/5G knowledge and drive engineering productivity.
  • Contribute to product performance improvements and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in telecom software development (LTE / 4G, preferably with exposure to 5G).
  • Strong expertise in protocol development (RRC, MAC, RLC, PDCP).
  • Excellent design and coding skills in C/C++.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux real-time operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for complex telecom systems.
  • Experience handling customer issues and fixing field problems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across global teams.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Telecommunications.
  • Experience in product development roles (not QA / Integration / pure testing).
  • Familiarity with telecom standards, LTE architecture, and 5G evolution.
  • Exposure to telecom product lifecycles and performance optimization.
