A Brief Overview
The Scheduler utilizes education, expertise, and knowledge of clinical aspects of the scheduling area to troubleshoot scheduling problems and continuously works with customers including physicians, other staff members, patients, and family members to achieve positive outcomes. This position requires focused critical thinking skills and problem-solving initiative of a high professional level to achieve positive outcomes in the clinical scheduling environment. The employee must always exhibit exemplary core customer skills and values that are representative of Tidelands Health.
What you will do
  • Daily clinical review of 80 plus patient preop charts including H&P's, procedure orders, medications
  • Complete pre-op screening calls for all Tidelands Health Facilities (up to 80+ calls a day).
  • Provide and review accurate procedure and prep instructions to patients via telephone.
  • Update patient's medications in EHR
  • Verify and maintain the procedure lineup in EHR for all procedures performed and keep it up to date in real time.
  • Frequently check for new orders, H&P's, and consents forms from Physicians.
  • Scan orders and other case related documents for registration into EHR
  • Collaborate with all team members of the Health Practice including the office staff, Anesthesia and Physicians with other outside practices.
  • Relay messages via emails, Telephone Encounters, etc. between medical professionals, management, and other team members.
  • Optimize provider's procedure schedule to prevent delays, fill in cancellations, and update procedure start times.

Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with the complete of a one-year practical nursing program and pass the National Council Licensure Examination for LPNs (NCLEX-PN) Required

Experience Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years previous experience in an acute care surgical service/OR setting Preferred
  • Hospital Operations and Physician Practice Operations Preferred
  • Patient Clinical Scheduling experience and/or Call Center experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Exemplary customer service skills to work with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers required.
  • EPIC experience preferred.
  • Strong PC skills preferred.
  • Proficient level with Microsoft Office software in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Explorer required.
  • Time management skills/ ability to multi-task essential.
  • Ability to quickly develop rapport with customer base including but not limited to physicians, coworkers, and ancillary personnel.
  • Exemplary telephone etiquette skills required.
  • Ability to effectively accomplish tasks while having numerous interruptions.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Licensed Practical Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Required
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
