A Brief Overview
This position's scope of responsibilities includes SHC and LPCH. The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for supporting Category Management and Value Based Selection (VBS). Areas of responsibility include medical supplies, non-medical supplies, and purchased services with a focus on "best value" and Total Cost of Ownership. This position works within the Non-Labor Spend (NLS) reduction and VBS frameworks to facilitate the achievements of the objectives of Category Management with the goal of attaining supplies and services that offer an optimal balance of quality, service, availability and value.
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the negotiation, standardization, consolidation and contract administration for all departments at SHC and LPCH. Responsible for negotiating and managing contracts for the purchasing of medical products, equipment and related-services which include a market review, benchmarking and selection of suppliers. Interacts with vendors and departments concerning purchasing issues. Responsible for ensuring contract compliance as it pertains to pricing and service levels.
This role will work in conjunction with the Assistant Director Category Management & VBS, Sourcing Director, and Administrative Director of Supply Chain to achieve and maintain optimal balance of quality, service, availability and value.

What you will do

  • Assists with the monitoring of supplier performance through developing measuring tools and checking references. Works closely with Senior Buyers to ensure standardization compliance.
  • Interfaces with vendors regarding sourcing, pricing and related issues. Manages information utilizing manual or electronic systems.
  • Issues bids, Requests for Information and Requests for Products and analyzes them for final decisions. Builds ongoing relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitors and provides compliance to product standardization, vendor performance and reports findings to Purchasing Manager.
  • Negotiates with vendors to ensure that goods and services purchased are priced competitively and that all contracts or pricing agreements meets SHC and LPCH guidelines.
  • Performs order placement and interacts with vendors and SHC & LPCH departments regarding purchase orders to communicate product delivery and pricing information. Works with the Senior Buyers to coordinates changes in purchase orders with vendors.
  • Processes purchase requisitions to include electronic requisitions, department specific custom requisitions and general purpose department requisitions
  • Provides expertise in negotiating standard price-per-unit contracts. Identifies and implements strategies to realize cost reductions.
  • Works closely with Category Managers and VBS Project Managers to support effective cost reduction strategies
  • Assists in managing the catalog and contracts information within Master Data Management
  • Supports Value Based Selection program, Patient Care VAT and Standard Operating Procedure framework
  • Utilizes all available tools to gain market knowledge and to access best pricing of assigned categories, including but not limited to ECRI, Spendlink and other benchmarking and analysis services.
  • Documents and communicates the savings success and engages end users in needed process change or product conversion.
  • Performs other related and incidental duties as needed or assigned.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Business Information Systems, Manufacturing Systems Engineering or a similar discipline/field from an accredited college or university required.


Experience Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • Knowledge of specialized medical and surgical supplies and equipment, primarily of a disposable nature
  • Knowledge of Sterile Processing and case cart systems
  • Adheres to HIPAA and BAA requirements.
  • Facilitates implementation of new or modified policies and procedures based on hospital best practices and compliance with Federal, State, and regulatory agencies. Ensures policies are followed across the organization through education to hospital departments and coordination with Finance, Compliance, Office of General Counsel, and Risk Management.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $45.94 - $59.73 per hour
