Job description

WTCR is one of the longest-serving medication assisted treatment networks in Texas, offering methadone and buprenorphine treatment and counseling for individuals suffering from Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of our patients so that they may disrupt the cycle of OUD and have their best chance for a long-term meaningful recovery.
The staff counselor delivers counseling services to WTCR patients as directed and as part of the patient's overall treatment plan. As an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team at WTCR, the counselor establishes a meaningful interpersonal relationship with the patient based on mutual respect, dignity, and truth. Using accepted therapeutic techniques in which he or she has been trained and which are agreeable to the patient, such as motivational interviewing or psychoanalytic theory, the counselor establishes focus on restructuring the patient's present situation to immediately promote change.
Education/Experience
  • College degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in behavioral health care settings preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Licensed in good standing in Texas as an LPC, LPC-I (LPC-A) or LCDC.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Conducting therapeutic counseling sessions either in-person or via video link at required intervals;
  • Drafting individualized treatment plans according to WTCR standards;
  • Accurately and timely documenting progress on individualized treatment plans;
  • Using a uniform language of case presentation when discussing patient cases;
  • Maintaining a required case load and appointment schedule;
  • Participating in the admission process for new patients, and conducting complete patient admission assessments;
  • Participating in toxicology screen specimen collection as required;
  • Assisting with temporary and permanent patient transfer arrangements as required;
  • Participating in all required clinical supervision activities;
  • Assisting with compliance functions, participating in chart audits and other elements of a quality assurance plan;
  • Communicating respectfully with patients and members of the treatment team.

Other
  • Satisfactory criminal history and registry clearances.
  • Satisfactory pre-employment drug screen as required by the State of Texas.

Hours/Benefits
  • Early morning hours, Mon. - Fri. 5:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.; Sat. 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
