Role Description The Low Voltage Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC. This role involves installing, terminating, and testing low voltage cabling and related systems for data, voice, security, and other infrastructure applications. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, assisting with system layout, performing routine maintenance on low voltage equipment, and ensuring all work complies with safety and industry standards. The technician will diagnose and resolve system issues, collaborate with project managers and other technicians, and maintain accurate documentation of work performed. The role also requires interacting with clients and site contacts in a professional manner while supporting project timelines and quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge of electricity and low voltage systems, with an understanding of electrical equipment used in infrastructure installations.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance, including routine inspection, servicing, and repair of low voltage systems and components.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills to identify, analyze, and resolve electrical and low voltage issues in the field.
  • Background or coursework in electrical engineering principles relevant to low voltage systems is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and wiring schematics.
  • Familiarity with applicable safety codes, standards, and best practices for on-site electrical work.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks on active job sites.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in varied on-site conditions; comfort with using hand and power tools safely.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with supervisors, peers, and clients.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in low voltage, electrical, or related fields are a plus.
