Explore Salem, VA

In the Roanoke Valley sits Salem, VA, within easy reach of the region's main hospital systems and the Blue Ridge beyond. Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and LewisGale Medical Center anchor the area's inpatient care, and their emergency department and med-surg units keep RN coverage in demand through the year. Clinicians often settle in Roanoke, Vinton, or Christiansburg to keep commutes short along the valley corridor. When the day winds down, the Roanoke Valley Greenways and the nearby mountain overlooks are an easy reach for a quick break. As a low-key valley base with the Blue Ridge at the doorstep, Salem tends to suit nurses who want the mountains closer than the metro.
