Common Search/ComparisonLove Coffee vs Barista

While both roles involve working with coffee and customer service, Love Coffee typically refers to a passion or interest in coffee, whereas a Barista is a trained professional who prepares and serves coffee in a commercial setting. The barista role requires specific skills and sometimes certifications, making it more specialized than simply loving coffee.

What does a love coffee employee do?

A Love Coffee employee typically works in a café or coffee shop named Love Coffee, serving customers drinks and food, preparing coffee beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Their duties often include taking orders, handling payments, restocking supplies, and providing excellent customer service. Employees may also be responsible for learning about different coffee blends, operating espresso machines, and helping to create a friendly atmosphere for guests. The specific responsibilities can vary depending on the location and the size of the team.

What are some common challenges a barista might face during busy shifts at a specialty coffee shop?

During peak hours, baristas often manage multiple drink orders simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and quality. They must balance customer service, efficient workflow, and upholding cleanliness standards, all in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication with teammates is essential to ensure orders are prepared correctly and promptly. Adapting to new menu items, handling equipment issues, and catering to specific customer preferences or dietary needs are also frequent challenges. Over time, these experiences help baristas develop resilience, multitasking abilities, and strong customer service skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a barista, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Barista, you need a solid understanding of coffee preparation, customer service, and cash handling, often supported by on-the-job training or food safety certification. Familiarity with espresso machines, grinders, POS systems, and inventory management tools is commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask help you stand out in this fast-paced environment. These abilities are crucial for delivering high-quality beverages, providing excellent customer experiences, and ensuring smooth café operations.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Love coffee, people, and a job where every day looks a little different? Join our Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee & Kona Ice team!

This isn’t your typical coffee shop. Our mobile coffee trucks travel throughout Central Texas serving schools, businesses, sporting events, festivals, community events, and more. You’ll make great drinks, meet lots of people, and have the opportunity to run events independently.

Our warehouse is located in West, TX, just 15 minutes north of Waco. Every shift begins and ends at our West warehouse, so you must be able to reliably report to West for each scheduled shift.

We’re looking for people who are positive, dependable, hardworking, and able to think on their feet. We’ll train you on both Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee and Kona Ice, so you’ll get plenty of variety!

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and specialty drinks

  • Provide fast, friendly customer service

  • Drive our mobile units to events throughout Central Texas

  • Set up and run events independently once trained

  • Prep, stock, clean, and organize the truck

  • Handle orders and payments accurately

  • Solve problems and keep things moving when plans change

  • Cross-train and work events with both Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee and Kona Ice

What Makes Someone Great at This Job:

You show up, work hard, have fun, and figure things out. You enjoy people, can multitask when things get busy, and don’t need someone standing over you telling you what to do next.

Our schedules vary based on events and can include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Some days are fast-paced and busy — but that’s also what makes the job fun and keeps every shift different.

If you love coffee, enjoy being around people, and want a job with variety, independence, and a great team environment, we’d love for you to apply!

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Clean driving record
  • Weekend availability required
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Report to warehouse in West, TX - 15 minutes North of Waco for all shifts
